Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee has called for a probe into the now-defunct House January 6 committee, accusing past and current members of the committee of “deliberately” concealing evidence from the Capitol riots.

Lee’s remarks come after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) began releasing more than 40,000 hours of film shot in the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, when demonstrators upset with the results of the 2020 election entered the hallways of Congress.

In a series of tweets highlighting the release of the video, Lee questioned the character of former Republican congressmen Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois.

“Why didn’t Liz Cheney and Adam Kizinger ever refer to any of these tapes? Maybe they never looked for them. Maybe they never even questioned their own narrative. Maybe they were just too busy selectively leaking the text messages of Republicans they wanted to defeat,” Lee wrote in a post, which included a video that purportedly showed Capitol police officers facilitating the passage of protesters through the building that day.

Lee stated in another post to X that Cheney and Kinzinger were “people who helped hide the J6 tapes” and “are cut out of the same cloth as those who will tell you that FISA 702 must be reauthorized without reforms—’because search warrants require too much effort.'”

We need to investigate the J6 committee,” he wrote in another post.

Lee also attacked the committee as a whole, as well as then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) who created the select committee to look into what happened in the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“Given the evidence they apparently suppressed, how much footage (and how many other records) do you think Nancy Pelosi and the J6 committee deliberately lost or destroyed?” Lee questioned in one post.

In response to a Friday post by Cheney, which included “some January 6th video” of disgruntled protesters tangling with Capitol police, Lee wrote, “Liz, we’ve seen footage like that a million times. You made sure we saw that — and nothing else. It’s the other stuff — what you deliberately hid from us — that we find so upsetting. Nice try.”

“P.S. How many of these guys are feds? (As if you’d ever tell us),” Lee added.

In another post, Lee said, “Taxpayer dollars funded the sham J6 committee.”

It became readily apparent why the January 6 committee under Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s tenure had refused to release the footage.

Many videos have already surfaced that run contrary to the narrative that all of the Trump supporters who entered the capitol posed an existential threat to the country and were trying to “overturn the election.”

Previously unreleased footage shows the calm manner that many protesters displayed.

There were more examples of peaceful protesters near Capitol Police officers.

Perhaps most controversially of all, a protester was uncuffed and then fist bumps a Capitol Police officer in a hallway.

A resurfaced video also apparently shows one of the many undercover police officers working the J6 staged riot saying that he will go undercover as Antifa.

The Republican National Committee in 2022 censured the only two House Republicans on a panel probing the fatal Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

The censure resolution said the committee was persecuting “ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse.”

Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois “crossed a line,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel in a statement that added to the original wording of the censure document.

“They chose to join Nancy Pelosi in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens who engaged in legitimate political discourse that had nothing to do with violence at the Capitol. That’s why Republican National Committee members and myself overwhelmingly support this resolution.”

While Senator Lee is calling for an investigation, others have seen enough and believe action should be taken.

Tim Pool said: “Everyone on the Jan 6 Subcommittee should be expelled from Congress. They lied, manipulated to steal political power.”

This is the kind of action that needs to be taken to hold elected officials accountable for deliberately deceiving the public and using it as a pretext to prosecute a former president and interfere in America’s elections.
